week one – new job

Filed under: work — thesupertracey @ 11:20 pm

Monday I started a new job. Its a good job and its growing on me. The day seems to go fast and slow at the same time. I answer the phone, send the boss lady emails saying who called and their number and usually they say why they’re calling so I say that too. Some times I make calls to get information for the boss lady to give to clients. Whenever I do make a call, I make sure I write down everything that I want to say on the call. I write down all the questions I need to ask and cover nearly all areas. I mean, it was my first week and I’m learning all of this nearly all on my own. I am the fort holder-downer and the 3 people that share the office space go in and out. On my second day, I ran errands. On my third day, I killed a scorpion by stepping on it – and I was wearing sandals. I got it before it got me. Apparently scorpions have bad eye sight even though they have several eyes. Then Thursday I got to the office and saw that it was covered in ants. I did kill it outside, so its ok that the ants are there. I go in and that morning I killed a spider. I really don’t like spiders anymore – I can’t believe I played with them when I was little! Today was a day. All week I’ve been doing paper shredding and reading a book called Send and its about how to write emails for office and home. A very interesting read if you’re new in the office scene. That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve got some filing I get to do next week along with more shredding and finishing that book and starting another one on accounting. Mind, I’m terrible at numbers so its the Dummie’s book to Accounting.

Also this week, really Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon and early evening and each meal time today and tomorrow’s breakfast and lunch – I am helping a family from church while they’re taking their youngest son to Harding and move him in and get him settled. I help the grandma of the family as she has memory problems. I wake her up in the morning and she gets dressed while I make her breakfast. I make her lunch when I get there a bit after noon and I get her dinner of fruit out of the fridge and her Boost drink too and that with bread and some cheese or tuna something like that.

Tomorrow, besides going over and helping her with meals, I get to help freshmen move in to their dorms on campus. It will be a long and interesting day. I nearly forgot where I had put my maintenance shirts earlier this evening! Best be off to bed so I can function tomorrow!

movie pushed back

Filed under: Entertainment — thesupertracey @ 7:20 pm

SO, I already posted this as a note on my facebook, but I think its worth putting another post up. This morning, I woke up and got on my laptop and checked my email to read my mom’s and her 2 sister’s emails that they send everyday. Well, in my inbox was a message titled “boo hoo” and this is what I read:

Next Harry Potter movie pushed back to July 2009
Thursday August 14 5:57 PM ET

The release date for the sixth Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” was pushed back on Thursday to July 2009 from its original slot in November 2008, movie studio Warner Bros. said.

The eight-month change in the opening date to July 17, 2009, is expected to disappoint millions of Harry Potter fans around the world who have already been waiting more than a year to watch the next big-screen installment in the international literary and film phenomenon.

Trailers for “Half-Blood Prince” began running last week in advance of the expected November movie release worldwide.

Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc, said it had decided to make the change to bolster its release schedule for the lucrative summer moviegoing season — a period that can account for as much as 40 percent of Hollywood‘s annual box office receipts.

Warner Bros. President Alan Horn said the studio was also still feeling repercussions from the three-month Hollywood screenwriters strike that ended in February but has “impacted the readiness of scripts for other films.”

“We know the summer season is an ideal window for a family … release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment,” Horn said.

The studio said the change of date would not alter production plans for the final, two-part Potter movie adventure, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” The release date for part one is tentatively set for November 2010.

Deathly Hallows,” the seventh and last story from British author J.K. Rowling about the boy wizard and his friends at Hogwarts School, was published in July 2007. The series has sold an estimated 400 million copies, and the books have been translated into more than 60 languages.

Having read this, it put a bit of a damper on my mood. Then I thought about my friends who are going to be going to Europe for studying abroad the fall semester. One of them, Traci, said that she’d try to go to the premier of the movie and try and get me an autograph for my birthday present. Totally bummed about that. I tagged some friends to the note on facebook and one of the girls I had tagged didn’t notice that I had tagged her to it. Well, she started a chat with me asking if I’d heard about it and so I asked if she saw the note I tagged her to. Like I said, she hadn’t. We don’t want to wait another 8 months or something! Come on WB! That’s my little movie rant. Or whatever it would be considered.

the good and the sad

Filed under: Uncategorized — thesupertracey @ 10:53 am

Well, Thursday night last week I got my friend and second roommate Alyssa from the airport. Tuesday night I got my friend Kenneth from the airport. Alyssa and Phillip and our friend Jake (a.k.a Cowboy) and Kenneth and I went to Wendy’s (I didn’t eat anything as it was after 10 – too late for me!) and then we went to walmart and then Kenneth and I got home at 12:05. We had so much fun at Walmart! Cowboy sat in the cart and I pushed and Kenneth helped steer cause it was kinda hard with Cowboy’s weight all at the front of the cart and small light weight stuff in the back of the cart. He did get out after a while. Got home a bit after midnight, like I said, and then I showed Kenneth in the house cause after I had picked him up from the a’port, it was too late to take him to get things worked out at his apartment complex so he stayed in our guest room. We talked till about 1 I think and then I did some stuff online for a half hour and then went to bed myself. In the morning, had breakfast, dressed, and then Kenneth and I went over to campus and stood on the hill where our “gang” hangs out when school is going on. Since there was dew on everything, we didn’t sit and stay for a while longer, so we hopped back in the car and drove south and east. Found the apartments and  went into the office. A pipe to his toilet was broken so they were fixing it and the lady at the desk told us to come back in a couple hours. So we went over to where Kenneth is going to be at college and thats nearly an actual hop, skip, and a jump away so its in very good walking distance. I went around with him to the different places he needed to go to. He was able to get all his classes at night and only Mon-Thurs. so he can have a day job, school, and study.  After we got stuff done at that college, we went back to the complex and the lady at the desk had all the papers ready and so she went through stuff with him and gave him his keys and then by 12:15, we were taking his bags up to his apartment! He unpacked his books and DVDs and showed those to me and had me look in his new Japanese food and sushi book that our friend Brenton gave to him. So, with food on the mind I asked him if he wanted to go have lunch. So we went and found an Arby’s and had lunch there. We went back to the apartment and we talked about stuff for the apartment, where which stuff would go where, so on and so forth and the toilet was still being worked on. Soon after they left, I realized that if he’s going to be living there now, one of the first things he needs is toilet paper for the bathroom. so we went to Walmart and then I stopped at a gas station on the way back to the apartment and then when we got back, Kenneth made and got some phone calls. While he was on the phone, I poked around his kitchen and made a small list of things that he’d need. I figured out how to work his oven and stove and the timer for him. He has a new fridge, possibly new sink, new dish washer, and a new oven/stove so that’s really good! I left his apartment after showing him how stuff worked and I pulled out of the parking lot a bit after 5. So now our Kenny is off on his own looking for a job today. He’s kinda sad that he’s all alone and the closest friend (distance wise) is a 20-25 minute drive away but he doesn’t  have a car. Sad that we don’t get to see him all the time here in town, but hopefully some of the guys are up to going and getting him for weekends since he doesn’t have classes on Fridays.

Alyssa won a free makeover from David’s Bridal and she gets to invite friends to get one too, so that’s what I’ll be doing on Saturday afternoon! I can’t wait for the wedding! 16 days away!

Tonight the college class is having a game night over at one of the elders’ house so that’ll be fun! I’m bringing Life, Monopoly, Checkers, and Mancala. I played myself in Mancala and the player 2 of me won. Sorta like how some people will play themselves in chess or checkers.

Well, I’m going to go and get some stuff around the house done. like put the sheets in the dryer. or let them dry outside now that its not rainy.

a week’s review

Filed under: Uncategorized — thesupertracey @ 4:54 pm

So, it’s been a week since I posted something so here’s what’s been going on!

I got to Anna’s house we worked on our sewing projects during the afternoon and then around 6, we left her town and drove up to Tulsa to go to a Barnes and Noble for the 4th book of the Twilight Saga to be released at midnight. I had the brilliant idea that we go over to the Walmart that was just on the other side of the street to get the book so we wouldn’t be there till 3 am. We got home ( to Anna’s home) at 1:40 am and we went right to bed. Then Saturday there was a combination of reading, watching movies and going to Walmart. That was our Saturday. Sunday we went to church and then I left there around 3:55 and got to my church building at 5:45ish in time for evening worship. Monday was back to work and I was the only girl that day. Tuesday though – Kara, a girl I’ve known my whole life, came back to work with me and one of the other girls was back from her trip too so I wasn’t alone with the guys at work. They aren’t much fun to talk to. kara and I watched the movie Anastasia during lunch on Tues. and Wed. and today we swam. Tues. night, Traci came over and I showed her how to use skype and download it and then we went swimming and then we watched Anastasia too! Wed. night I got a text message from my friend and second roommate Alyssa asking if I can pick her up at the airport tonight – so that’s what I’m going to do tonight as well as go to this iDebate thing on campus. I believe it’s going to be televised too! If you remember when Bob Dole was running for president, Mr. Kemp was going to be his vice if they were elected. Well, Mr. Kemp is going to be there! Isn’t that exciting? Well, I should go and eat dinner now so we can get over to campus in time.
